Clary Sage is a towering herbaceous perennial with spires of pink and white flowers on sturdy square stems covered with large, soft leaves. All aerial parts of the plant contain aromatic essence producing glands that release a honeyed, musky fragrance. The plants are harvested in August when the fragrance is strongest to produce an extract that is a sumptuous fixative with delicate herbaceous, floral, tea, and amber notes. The aroma is gentler and more herbaceous than Clary Sage essential oil.
Concentrated Clary Sage Absolute is a green waxy paste that can be tricky to combine with other oils. For ease of use, we offer it in a pourable form, pre-diluted with 50% organic alcohol ready for use as part of your palette of perfumery.
An absolute is created by using a solvent to pull the precious plant aromatics from the plant matter. The solvent is then allowed to evaporate leaving behind a beautifully aromatic and highly concentrated absolute. The fragrant molecules are generally enjoyed through inhalation to transport emotions, mind, memories, creativity, concentration, imagination, and meditation across secular thresholds into the sea of cosmic waveforms. The scent story of absolutes unfolds in colognes and perfumes, inhalation mediations, and ambient diffusion infusions rather than as the focus of skin care.
